Strike King Report

Strike King KVD 2.5 Wake BaitStrike King KVD 2.5 Wake Bait

The new 2.5 KVD Wake Bait is built off of the very popular KVD 2.5 Squarebill design that anglers love.

The difference is the unique bill design that is angled so the bait wakes the surface of the water instead of diving. The 2.5 Wake is designed where it can be reeled both fast and slow speeds and will not blow out – an issue that is common in other wake bait designs. Being able to reel it fast allows the fish to not get a good look at the bait, enticing more strikes. Additionally, internal rattles create a unique clacking sound that drives fish crazy.

The new KVD 2.5 Wake comes in 12 fish catching colors and with a MSRP of $6.99.

Storm Report

Smaller and Larger Sizes Now Offered in Storm 360GT Swimmer Jigs Smaller and Larger Sizes Now Offered in Storm 360GT Swimmer Jigs

To help anglers match the hatch on multiple waterbodies with baitfish of different sizes swimming at multiple depths, Storm 360GT Searchbait Swimmers Jigs are available now in two new sizes – one a quarter-ounce lighter than the original model, and one a quarter-ounce heavier.

The new ⅛-ounce 360GT Swimmer Jig comes armed with a 2/0 VMC Coastal Black Hook and pre-rigged on a 3-½-inch 360GT Searchbait soft-plastic, boot-tail swimbait body. The new ⅜-ounce Swimmer Jig comes armed with a 7/0 hook and pre-rigged on a 5-½-inch body. The original 360GT Swimmer Jig model weighs a quarter ounce, features a 4/0 hook and comes pre-rigged on a 4-inch body.

“One big deal with the action of any swimbait is being able to fit the head to the body of the plastic, and not have a larger head size on a smaller body, or vice versa,” says Rapala Pro Davy Hite, a Bassmaster Classic Champion. “These fit perfectly.”

Garmin Adds Perspective Mode for Shallow Water to Panoptix LiveScopeGarmin Adds Perspective Mode for Shallow Water to Panoptix LiveScope

Garmin announced a new Perspective Mode feature and transducer positioning accessory for its award-winning Panoptix LiveScope sonar.

Now, in addition to the existing LiveScope Forward and Down Modes, anglers can use the new Perspective Mode for unprecedented overhead visibility that’s perfect for shallow water.

“Gone are the days of casting blindly under docks and along shorelines for schools or beds of fish thanks to the new LiveScope Perspective Mode,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of global consumer sales. “LiveScope combines two game-changing innovations – scanning sonar and live sonar – to deliver the best of both technologies. Anglers can now see and easily interpret incredibly detailed, real-time images of what’s around and below their boat from three unique vantage points, all with one easy-to-use mount.”

Zoom Report

ZOOM Adds Junior Size to Hollow Belly Frog Lineup ZOOM Adds Junior Size to Hollow Belly Frog Lineup

In response to the overwhelming popularity of the company’s Hollow Belly Frog released last fall, Zoom Bait Company announces the release of the new Hollow Belly Frog Jr., a smaller version of the soft-bodied topwater. It offers the same great “walk the dog” action and the same high hookup percentage, but in a downsized package that excels when fish are feeding on smaller prey or otherwise a little more finicky.

Frogs continue to play a critical role for tour-level anglers and weekend enthusiasts alike, not only in heavy vegetation, but also throughout a wide range of conditions. When fish are big and active, the original Zoom Hollow Belly Frog, which is 3 ½ inches long and weighs 7/8 ounce, is a key tool, but when the time comes to downsize this new 2-½ inch version should get the call. It still casts like a bullet, and slithers easily over and through the thickest cover.
