G. Loomis newly-designed E6X Salmon rods in 11 models are now available at retailers.

From back-bouncing with heavy lead in big water, mooching herring and anchovies, or pulling plugs, “the E6X rods are offered in the lengths, powers and action for all the popular lure and bait presentations for salmon fishing in both fresh and saltwater, including tributaries of the Great Lakes,” said Dave Brinkerhoff with G. Loomis’ product design team. “Through our Multi-Taper Technology, in designing the rods we are able to focus on line control and action accuracy, rod balance and blank construction. We can keep them light, but with the power needed when hooked into big fish and fishing big waters.”

The 11-rod series includes one-piece 8-foot back-bounce and 8’2” hot shot rods, two-piece 8’6” and 9’ hot shot rods, and two-piece 9’, 9’9” and 10’6” trolling/plug rods. There’s also a 10’6” ‘BC’ handle rod specifically for mooching. All the rods have a sleek, buff blank finish, and feature graphite rear and front grips.

“As with all our E6X rods, anglers are offered the expected performance from G. Loomis, and at a comfortable price,” noted Brinkerhoff. “With our company roots in the Pacific Northwest, that extra passion for salmon – and steelhead – fishing shows in these rods.”

Strike King Report

Strike King Creates a KVD 1.5 That Dives to 10 FeetStrike King Creates a KVD 1.5 That Dives to 10 Feet

Strike King’s No. 1 selling shallow crankbait has been the KVD 1.5 square bill.

Its popularity was solidified when KVD proved its effectiveness to the world with his 2011 Bassmaster Classic win on the Louisiana Delta. Since then, it has become a tool responsible for countless wins and high finishes from club tournaments to the biggest stages in the sport every single week. The bait has evolved into 4 other sizes that now includes a KVD 1.5 Deep that gets deeper than most shallow square bill crankbaits.

“There is nothing that triggers bites like the hunting action of a 1.5,” says VanDam. “It has the perfect profile and unique action that gets bites everywhere but it has been limited to the shallower ranges of bass habitat. We’ve worked hard on getting the 1.5 Deep to maintain the perfect action and yet dive to 10 feet.”

The new KVD 1.5 Deep is available in 25 of Kevin’s favorite fish-catching colors and will carry a suggested retail of $7.49.

Zona Says Strike King’s New Thunder Cricket Vibrating Jig Catches ‘EmZona Says Strike King’s New Thunder Cricket Vibrating Jig Catches ‘Em

Bladed jig fishing has been the rage for early spring fishing and several companies have produced their versions the past couple years.

They all catch fish, but Mark Zona says Strike King’s new Thunder Cricket is as good as they get because Strike King’s stellar pro staff provided input for every detail, from the snap, paint job, hook and performance.

“The Thunder Cricket has the perfect action and vibration to get bass to bite,” says Zona who has had good success fishing the bait around the country this spring. “It also has all premium components to make sure that every bite makes it into your boat. The blade shape, skirt count, hook size and style, and the colors were all meticulously tested and unanimously agreed upon as the best possible option to make this bait superior.”

The all-new Thunder Cricket comes in four sizes - 3/8, ½, 5/8 and ¾ ounce. It will be offered in 10 colors and will be available in tackle shops this spring.
