Norman Greene and Nate Fredrickson won the D&R Sports Center Grand River Tournament last weekend.

Small game hunting season begins Sept. 1 with the opening of the early Canada goose season and continues until rabbit and hare season ends on March 31. Michigan DNR wildlife biologists across the state say hunters should find conditions similar to last year - with a couple of notable improvements - in Michigan's wood lots, farm fields and wetlands.
Mike Frank of Dialed-In Charters will discuss king salmon fishing at the Michiana Steelheaders meeting Wednesday, Sept. 5. The meeting is open to the public.
Frank will share tactics for catching kings from Lake Michigan and the St. Joseph River. The program begins at 7:30 at the De Amicis Club in Mishawaka, 302 W. 11th St.
