Bonus Licenses Disallowed on Some Indiana Properties

Hunters will not be able to use bonus antlerless deer licenses this year on some DNR-managed properties in northern Indiana because the extra hunting pressure is not needed to control the population at those sites.

The sites are Menominee Wetland Conservation Area (near Plymouth), Maxinkuckee Wetland Conservation Area (near Culver), the Hufford Wildlife Trust Area (south of Monticello), and the Manitou Wetland Conservation Area, including the Judy Burton Nature Preserve and the Bob Kern Nature Preserve (near Rochester).

Indiana DNR Officers Now Have 24-hour Dispatch Center

Indiana Conservation Officers will extend their Central Dispatch Center to a 24-hour operation beginning Oct. 29 to maintain radio contact with Conservation Officers across the state.

The Central Dispatch Center currently operates daily from 7 a.m. to midnight. The 24-hour operation will begin at midnight Oct. 29. Central Dispatch is located at Paynetown State Recreation Area on Monroe Lake near Bloomington.

Maj. Michael Portteus said, “For the first time in the history of the DNR Law Enforcement Division, Indiana Conservation Officers may be contacted 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling 1-812-837-9536.”
