Mark and Suzette Michael (Union City, Mich.) had five keeper bass weighing 9.82 pounds to win the Casting Couples tournament on Pine and Stone lakes in LaPorte.
The winners never started their big motor and fished Poor Boys Wigglers wacky-style in 4-6 feet of water to catch their fish.
The brother and sister team of Mike Martin and Jennifer Hibner (LaPorte) had four keepers totaling 7.26 pounds to finish second. They used Senkos and a frog in 2-4 feet of water.
Rick and Jennifer Kedik (Niles) only had two fish, but one of them weighed 4.08 pounds that earned them third place and big bass honors. They fished jigs in 4-6 feet.

John Dixon and Mike Smoker caught four fish weighing 12.51 pounds on the St. Joseph River to win the Southwest Michigan Anglers Club (SWAC) tourney at 6 Span Access.
The winners ($255) also had Big Bass with a 4.35-pound largemouth. All of their fish came on jigs and tubes.
Terry Smith and Scott Crocker were second ($155) with 12.17 pounds caught on Senkos while Brad and Clay Sterling were third ($80) with 11.26 pounds caught on worms rigged wacky style.
The next tournament is May 30 on Paw Paw Lake.

Bobby Nelson (Fulton, Ind.) and Jim Hippensteel (Rochester, Ind.) captured the R&B Circuit season opener on Lake Wawasee with 17.47 pounds of largemouth.
The winners ($892) caught all of their fish from a single area by snapping tubes and Erie Darters (watermelon/gold) paired with 3/8-ounce jigs. They fished a sharp drop-off, positioning their boat in 22 feet of water and casting to the shallow edge.
Casting Couples winnersThe Casting Couples season opener on Koontz Lake went off with beautiful clear sunny skies but fishing for big ones was tough. However, every team brought in at least one keeper.
Brian Riggens and Denise Warren (Westville, Ind.) caught four keeper bass using crankbaits in shallow water to win with 8.86 pounds. They also took home "big bass" honors with a 4.51-pound largemouth.
Casting Couples second placeThe father/daughter team of Tom and Brianna Wegiel (LaPorte) caught four keepers weighing 5.54 pounds on worms and jerkbaits to finish second.
Jonathan and Melissa Painter (Coloma, Mich.) used white spinnerbaits to finish third with 4.68 pounds and won a tackle pack from D's lures.

The 41st annual Hoosier Coho Club Classic, the Midwest's longest-running salmon tournament, will be held in Michigan City May 1-3.
The two-day tournament awards $50,000 in prizes and features a $10,000 check to the Professional Division winning team. Entry fee is $475 for the Pro Division and $225 for the Amateur Division.
A Hoosier Coho Club-sponsored team from the Michigan City High School Fishing Club will participate in weekend events that kick off the Michigan City Summer Fest.
Some 70-plus fishing boats in the Coho Classic will blast-off from within one-half mile of the Lighthouse at 7 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Sundayís weigh-in will be at 2 p.m. in Washington Park.
A tune-up tournament, the Hartman Memorial, will be held Friday.
