Classic coverage expands; live action footage to be provided on internet.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The GEICO Bassmaster Classic presented by GoPro next week on Lake Hartwell, South Carolina, is expected to become the most widely watched and thoroughly covered fishing event in history, B.A.S.S. officials predict.
It will certainly be covered in more different ways than previous Classics, which historically have reached more fishing fans than any other tournament, said Jim Sexton, VP/Digital for B.A.S.S. With new live coverage of fishing action on Bassmaster.com and advances in content for mobile devices, were hoping to surpass 1 million unique visitors on our website alone.
The 2014 Classic on Lake Guntersville attracted 979,000 unique visitors to the site, and they generated a total of 33 million page views in February 2014, including 22 million during Classic Week.
The R&B Bass Circuit will conduct an ice fishing derby March 1 on Stone Lake in Cassopolis. Entry fee is $15 per person. Registration begins at 6 a.m. at Marcellos Pizzeria across from the public access and the contest runs from 7 a.m. to noon.
Anglers will fish for a 25-fish limit that must be a minimum of eight inches. All fish qualify except for bass. Cash prizes will be offered for first through 10th, depending on the number of entries. A big fish prize also will be offered.

Rick Kediks 8th annual Bassmaster Classic Party at Beef OBradys in Granger will be held Feb. 22 and the public is invited.
The get-together is open to anyone who would like to watch live viewing of the final Bassmaster Classic weigh-in. The Classic is held on Lake Hartwell, S.C. Feb. 20-22.
Although the ESPN TV production wont be viewed until later, Beef OBradys will livestream the online production in a banquet room that has two large screen TVs. The restaurant will supply free chips and salsa.
In addition, Clear H2o will be on hand displaying the latest in Michiana bass tackle and anglers are encouraged to bring tackle to sell or swap. Tournament groups will be passing out fliers for contests slated for this year. For more information, call Kedik at 269-240-4917.
Clear H2o Tackle near Edwardsburg will conduct an ice fishing derby Feb. 15 on Stone Lake at Cassopolis.
Entry fee is $10 and cash prizes will be offered in three divisions for the longest bluegill/sunfish, crappie or perch. A video of the event will be produced and posted on youtube. Clear H2o Tackle has announced it will conduct a bass tournament on Eagle and Juno lakes July 26.
Although the tournament is still months away, early indications are that it will fill up quickly due to the format. Tournament organizers will limit 20 boats on Eagle and 20 on the Juno Chain. Teams must register for a specific body of water in advance to secure a spot on that lake.
Entry fee is $80 per team with a 10-place payback assuming the field is full. First-place will be worth $750 with descending pay to $100 for 10th. The big bass pot will pay two prizes, $225 and $175 (second big bass). Tournament hours are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
