Andy Buss (North Liberty) and Josh Stalcup (Mishawaka) won the U.S. Anglers Choice Pro event on Lake Tippecanoe last weekend with 11.60 pounds. The winners pocketed $1,020 for the fish they caught around docks close to deep water.
Clint Gradeless (Huntington) and Lee Pliz (Wawaka) were second ($537) with 9.27 pounds caught on jigs on the outside of the weeds in 10 to 16 feet of water. Phillip Duracz (Chesterton) fished alone and was third ($256) with 8.61 pounds caught on jigs and Erie Darters around piers. Big Bass for the tournament ($180) was a 3.32-pound largemouth caught by Jerry Duracz and Clint Marler.
There were 52 fish weighed in for a total weight of 87.74 pounds and an average of 1.69 pounds per fish.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. The 2014 Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Opens Series has something for everyone whether theyre a top professional angler, an aspiring pro or simply a fan of the sport.
Nine events in nine states covering three geographic regions will send winners to the 2015 Bassmaster Classic, top performers to the Bassmaster Elite Series and thousands of fans to weigh-ins where they can catch the action.
The Opens Series consists of nine events three tournaments each in Southern, Central and Northern divisions covering rivers, natural lakes and man-made reservoirs and running from January to October.
For the fourth season in a row, Opens tournament winners who compete in all three events in a single division will earn a berth in the Super Bowl of bass fishing, the 2015 Bassmaster Classic.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. The fans have spoken, and democracy ruled in determining the final four Bassmaster Elite Series anglers who may be served a slice of the $100,000 pie during Toyota All-Star Week and the Evan Williams Bourbon Championship, Sept. 27-29, out of Muskegon, Mich.
The championship is an Elite Series postseason competition among the top performers from the 2013 tour, along with four pros whose avid fan support catapulted them into the postseason battle on Muskegon and White lakes.
Kalamazoos Kevin VanDam made it through Angler of Year points (top 8 received automatic berths) while his nephew, Jonathon, finished 12th in the voting.
Rick Patton (Plymouth) and Dave Morrow (Knox) won the Hoosier Pro Tournament on Lake Maxinkuckee with 10.41 pounds.
Dan Milligan (Bremen) and Kris Shipley (Syracuse) were second with 8.83 pounds that included big bass prize 3.19-pound Largemouth. Steve Colema and Tim Rasala (Whiting, Ind.) were third with two fish weighing 3.53.

The winners 11.37-pound limit won them $712. All of their fish came from small points with submerged rock piles. Two fish fell for a Reaction Innovations Skinny Dipper rigged with a D's Lures swimbait jig and three were fooled by an Xtreme Bass Tackle (Muskegon Goby) rigged on a ¼-ounce D's tube jig.
Greg Mangus (Fremont) and Kevin Fletcher (Elkhart) brought a limit of smallmouth weighing 9.99 pounds to finish second ($452) by fishing black/blue Mango jigs. They also caught the second heaviest fish of the event ($90), a 3.47-pound smallmouth. Their performance solidified their hold on the standings and earned them the 2013 Points Championship, worth another $400.
Trevor Paulus (Osceola) and Brad Sterling (Bremen) ran upriver and landed 20 keeper bass by tossing a combination of jigs, tubes, and split shot worms in eddies and other current breaks. Their third place fish weighed 9.84 pounds and won them $332.
The Money Mouth Baits Big Bass ($360) was a 4.44-pound smallmouth caught by Tom Montague (Elkhart) and Aaron Likens (Kendallville) while Justin Hahaj (Bridgman) and John Gipson, Jr. (Lafayette) won the The C Flash Big Bass with a 3-pound smallie.
