MFL ReportÂ
Jeremy and Lane Groves - 1st Place
Jeremy and Lane Groves caught 7.69 pounds to win the Michiana Fishing League tournament on the St. Joseph River at Veterans Park recently.
Competing teams had to battle the swift current and high water from previous days of cold rain.  With water temps in the low 50’s, anglers found it to be a tough day on the water.
Groves, a father and son team, found a couple over 15-inch smallmouths by pitching Pig Pluckers Tube Jigs and Conklins Custom Crankbaits in eddies. They also had the big bass of the event, a 3.30 pounder.
Lee Duracz and Terry Burgess were second with 4.26 pounds while Kasey Conklin and John Bryant were third with 2.91 pounds.
The Michiana Fishing League’s next open tournament will be held on May 22nd at Pine and Stone Lake in LaPorte, Ind. Check out their Facebook page or the Michiana Outdoors News Lake Drive Marine Event calendar for details.
