Billy Mathews and Kris Iodice - 1st Place
Billy Mathews and Kris Iodice won the Southwest Michigan Anglers Club (SMAC) tourney on Diamond Lake last weekend.
The tournament drew 24 boats with 13 limits weighed in. Of the 75 bass (137 pounds) weighed in, one was a smallmouth. Big Bass went to Eric Toth and Layne Hierstman with a 3.68-pound largemouth caught on a jig.
The overall winners had five fish weighing 11.10 pounds, caught on jigs around docks and pads.
Brad and Clay Sterling - 2nd Place
Brad and Clay Sterling were second with 5 weighing 10.49 pounds caught on drop-shot rigs in 10 to 15 feet of water.
MLF Report
Jim and Mike Passarelli - 1st Place
Jim and Mike Passarelli won the Michiana Fishing League (MFL) tourney on Pipestone Lake last weekend.
Contestants said the tourney was a grind for most of them with a lot of 13.75-inch bass caught. Some said they saw a few fish still bedding.
The Passarellis had 15.61 pounds including big bass, a 3.73 pounder. They said they caught their fish with jerkbaits and by punching the pads.
Kevin Grubbs and Richard Hock were second with 9.70 pounds while Lane and Jeremy Groves were third with 8.43 pounds.
The next open is July 17th on Pipestone. Monitor the group’s Facebook page for a pop-up open event coming this Saturday.
Arjay’s Report
John Miller and Dan Rowell - 1st Place
John Miller and Dan Rowell won the Arjay’s Open on Clear Lake over the weekend.
The winners had a limit weighing 11.70 pounds and took home the big bass pot with a 3.98-pound largemouth. They said they caught their fish on Carolina rigs in 35 feet of water.
Tim and Hunter Tucker - 2nd Place
Steve and Amy Martin - 3rd Place
Tim and Hunter Tucker were second with 10.82-pound limit caught on shallow banks while Steve and Amy Martin with were third with five weighing 10.22 pounds they caught on hula grubs in 8 to 10 feet of water.
Justin and Hunter Kosmerick - 4th Place
Justin and Hunter Kosmerick were fourth, by way of a big-bass tiebreaker, with 9.60-pound limit.
The junk fish pot went to Eben Lambert and Jeremy Bunnell with a pike weighing 2.52.
Arjay’s report
Kent Dowden - 1st Place
Kent Dowden fished alone to win Arjay’s Clear H2o Wednesday nighter on a steamy evening at Diamond Lake Wednesday.
Dowden had a limit weighing 10.06 pounds. Dowden said he caught his bass flipping jigs near pads.
Jeremiah Yoder and Timothy Eicher - 2nd Place
Scott and Carrigan Carpenter - 3rd Place
Jeremiah Yoder and Timothy Eicher finished second with a 9.32-pound limit caught near docks with trick worms while Scott and Carrigan Carpenter had four fish for 6.16 pounds caught on jigs along weed edges in 6 feet of water.
Four Flags Report
Dan Posey and Jeff Bostic - 1st Place
Dan Posey and Jeff Bostic bagged 10.23 pounds to win the Four Flags bass tournament on Diamond Lake last weekend.
Posey and Bostic also won the big bass pot with a 2.92-pound largemouth. They caught their fish on topwater lures and soft plastics.
