The 28th annual Thanksgiving Weekend Bass Tournament will be held on Klinger Lake, Saturday, Nov. 30.

Tournament hours are 8 a.m. -2 p.m. Entry fee is $40 per boat and includes the big bass pot.

Rajin Cajun and Lee Eby won the Polar Bear Opens season opener Saturday at Klinger Lake.

The winners said they had their 8.43-pound limit in the first 30 minutes using blade baits in 5-7 feet of water and that they made small culls throughout the day. They also had big bass of the tournament, a 2.74-pound smallmouth. They won $200 for first and $50 for big bass and said this was their first tournament win.

Brendon Sutter and Richard Chupp Jr. won the Tackle Shack Fall Fishing League season finale on the St. Joseph River at 6 Span Access this week.

Teams were permitted to only weigh in bass over 15 inches and no unders were allowed. The winners had 9.96 pounds in 2 largemouth and 2 smallmouth. They caught their fish in the main river channel in 8-10 feet of water with underspins and Keitech trailers fished near timber. They also used spinnerbaits next to boat lifts in shallow water.

Greg Mangus and Kevin Fletcher were second with four smallmouth weighing 9.85. They fished 2-7 feet in heavy current with NED rigs, umbrella rigs, and jigs.

Steve and Amy Martin 3rd PlaceSteve and Amy Martin 3rd Place

Steve and Amy Martin were third with three smallmouth weighing 7.01 pounds. They caught their fish with NED rigs, and the darker the evening went, the shallower of water they would fish.

Terry Burgess and Donald Miles won the season points championship. There were a total of 36 different teams who competed throughout the course of our events.

Brendon Sutter and Richard Chupp Jr. won the Tuesday Night Tackle Shack Fall Fishing League at Duke’s Bridge (Waldron Chain) with four largemouth weighing 8.01 pounds.

The winners caught their keepers in clean channels next to dock poles and seawalls in 3 feet or less. They used black and blue jigs and said most of the bites came on the initial fall.
