Scott and Patty Smith (Burr Oak, Mich.) won the Casting Couples Tournament last weekend with four bass weighing 10.31pounds.
The tournament start was delayed due to bad storms rolling through the area Saturday morning.
It didn’t affect the Smiths from capitalizing as they also won the big bass pot with a 5.82-pound largemouth earning them an extra $75.They fished Chatterbaits and wacky worms to pocket $255.
Steve and Amy Martin (Mottville) - 2nd Place
Steve and Amy Martin (Mottville) had the only limit of five bass totaling 10.03 pounds. The Martins used Ned rigs in shallow water that earned them $130.
Travail’s Report
Palestine Lake showed up in a big way during a rainy day last weekend in the Travail’s Tournament circuit.
Todd and Matt Hagerman - 1st Place
The father-and-son team of Todd and Matt Hagerman won with a whopping 24 pounds, 9 ounces that they caught on frogs and by flipping lily pads.
John Gipson and Kris Iodice - 2nd Place
It took 20 pounds, 1 ounce for second by John Gipson and Kris Iodice (no last names provided) while Howard and Frantz (no last names provided) were third with 19-5.
SMAC Report
Derek Kelly and Jordan Smith - 1st Place
Derek Kelly and Jordan Smith won the Southwest Michigan Anglers Club (SMAC) weeknight event on Eagle Lake.
There were 20 teams participating with 69 bass weighed in and 13 limits registered.
Kelly and Smith had five bass weighing 9.23 pounds. They were video gaming their fish in 18-25 feet of water. They used jigs and finesse worms to make the bigger fish bite.

Ray Scott Bassmaster Classic Trophy
When a world champion of fishing is crowned at the 2023 Academy Sports + Outdoors Bassmaster Classic presented by Huk, the angler will hoist a familiar trophy emblazoned with a legendary name. B.A.S.S. officials announced today that the famed Bassmaster Classic trophy will be named in honor of the organization’s founder Ray Scott.
Scott, who passed away in May at the age of 88, founded the first national professional bass fishing circuit, the Bassmaster Tournament Trail, in 1967 and the following year founded B.A.S.S., which grew to become the world’s largest fishing organization.Â

Chuck Powell and Louie Stout went back-to-back last weekend, winning the LMBT at Cedar Lake Saturday and taking the top prize in the Michiana Fishing League event at Pipestone Sunday.
They won with 14.79 pounds caught on jigs fished on weed edges in 4 to 12 feet. Their biggest fish, a 3.75 largemouth, came on a worm pitched into the lily pages. They also took home two lures provided by Conklin’s Custom Baits.
