Arjay’s Report

Martin and Lester Hochstetler - 1st PlaceMartin and Lester Hochstetler - 1st Place

Martin and Lester Hochstetler out-fished 35 other teams on Klinger Lake to win the Arjay’s Wednesday Night League event last week.

There were 14 limits weighed in but all were small limits.

The Hochstetlers had a limit weighing 10.44 pounds and included the Tackle Shack Big Bass of the event, a 3.28 pounder.

Terry Smith and Scott Crocker - 1st PlaceTerry Smith and Scott Crocker - 1st Place

Terry Smith and Scott Crocker fished under and around docks to catch 10.64 pounds and win the Southwest Michigan Anglers Club tournament on Gull Lake near Richland, Mich. last weekend.

The winners said they used jigs and topwaters to catch their fish.

Travis Terry had a limit weighing 10.50 pounds caught on swimbaits while Dave Eggers and Jason Dittmar had a limit weighing 9.56 pounds caught on tubes.

Bill Mathews and Chris Iodice had a 9.24-pound limit caught on Ned rigs and swim baits.

Kevin Grubbs and Richard Hock - 1st PlaceKevin Grubbs and Richard Hock - 1st Place

Kevin Grubbs and Richard Hock caught 8.16 pounds to win the Michiana Fishing League event on Donnell Lake last weekend.

Josiah Grandy - 2nd PlaceJosiah Grandy - 2nd Place

Josiah Grandy was second with 7.93 pounds and Mike Smith fished alone and caught 6.22 pounds. Big Bass prize went to Joel Thomas Laskowski and David Horvath with a 3.90-pound smallmouth.

Tubes and finesse tactics accounted for most of the fish caught.

The next event is at Sylvan Lake this Saturday.

Joshua Leonard and Justin Groff won the Arjay’s Wednesday night fishing Leage at Fish Lake near Sturgis on a tough night of fishing .

The Wild Minnow Baits winners had four fish that weighed 8.90. There were no limits caught by any of the 31 participating teams.


BASS Report

ESPN2 will televise more live on-the-water action from two upcoming Bassmaster tournaments.

Viewers can catch exciting on-the-water action from the SiteOne Bassmaster Elite at St. Lawrence River beginning today as well as the Bassmaster Elite at Lake Champlain July 30-Aug. 2 on ESPN2. Check local TV listings for airing times.

During the telecasts, expect to see two stunning smallmouth bass New York fisheries - Lake Champlain finished No. 11 on the Bassmaster Magazine list of Best Bass Lakes of the Decade while the St. Lawrence River came in at No. 12.

B.A.S.S. has worked in conjunction with local hosts to ensure the events adhere to guidelines issued by the State of New York for professional sports competitions, which include diagnostic testing as well as protocols for daily health screenings for all athletes and staff via the CrewMinders safety check platform and a host of other safety and social distancing measures. Under these guidelines, no fans or spectators are allowed to attend events, even those held at outdoor venues.
