Jeremy Chase and Katlyn Chase caught five bass weighing 10.03 pounds to win the Southwest Michigan Anglers Club event on Corey Lake last weekend.

Their catch was anchored by a 4.03-pound largemouth that Katlyn caught and won them big bass honors. The other fish came on variety of baits, including drop-shot rigs.

Korey Bloss and Kevin Mack were second with five bass weighing 8.77 pounds while Brett Gessinger and Mike VanderRyden had 7.95 pounds on drop-shot rigs to finish third.

The last regular season tournament is a Tuesday nighter on Baldwin Lake from 6-9 p.m.


R&B Report

Larry Stanley (Kendallville) and Dave Terry (Albion) brought a 13.26-pound limit to the scales to seal the win in the R&B Bass Circuit event Aug. 12

The winners ($670) fished a combination of weed clumps, lily pads, and outside weed edges with homemade casting and flipping jigs to catch their bass. One keeper was also caught on a drop shot rig. Most of their fish were caught between 15 and 18 feet of water.

After striking out on the lake, Dave Morrow (Knox) and Rich Paton (Plymouth) put together a 12.43-pound limit from the channels with homemade 3/8- and Ω-ounce black/blue jigs. Their efforts netted them $420 for second place.

Doug Fasick and Don Orn fished swim jigs matched with swimbaits in 8-10 feet of water to catch four keepers weighing 12.43 pounds and finish third ($250.

The Lochness Lures Award ($255) was a 4.42-pound largemouth landed by Andy Buss (North Liberty) and John DuPont (North Liberty). It was caught on a 9k Elite Lures flipping jig matched with a B&N Custom Baits jig trailer.

Jim Medows and Jodi Murphy (Cassopolis, Mich.)  had a limit of five bass totaling 11.73 pounds to win the Casting Couples event that drew 19 couples on Corey Lake last weekend.

Meadows and Murphy also won the big bass pot with a 3.80-pound largemouth. They won $360 by fishing Jimbo Jigs in 10-20 feet of water.

Wendel and Sandy Pompey (Marcellus, Mich. ) were second ($150) with a limit weighing 8.97 pounds by fishing wacky-rigged worms in 15 feet of water. Rick and Malia Kedik (Niles, Mich.) were third ($100) with five bass weighing 8.68 pounds caught on Texas-rigged worms in shallow water.

Mark and Stephanie Siskaninetz (Dowagiac, Mich. were fourth ($60) with 8.04 pounds caught on wacky rigs.

Zonas Win College Bass Tour Classic

Jakob and Hunter Zona caught 34.49 pounds in the College Bass Tour Classic during the two-day event on Long and Hubbard lakes.

They won a Bass Tracker Heritage Boat w/Mercury Outboard, 2 Yeti Rambler Trophies, 2 Quantum Smoke Reels, 2 Oakley Sunglasses, Mossy Oak Hats, Huk Clothing, and $750. They donated the cash back to CBT to be redistributed among participants.

Terry Smith and Scott Crocker caught five bass weighing 17.33 pounds to win the Southwest Michigan Anglers Club event on Paw Paw Lake last weekend.

The winners also won the big bass pot with a 4.93-pound largemouth. They caught their fish on Big Snack jigs.
