Rick Kedik and Scott Crocker teamed up to catch 29.07 pounds and win the two-day SMAC Classic on Long Lake in Alpena recently.

The winners used topwaters and jigs to catch their weight and had big bass on the first day, a 3.67 pounder.

Eben Lambert and Joe Sears were second with 28.08 pounds and tied for second day big bass with a 3.67 pounder. They used topwaters and crankbaits.

Jeff Bostic and Steve Juroff were third with 27.03, caught on crankbaits and topwaters while Caleb VanderReyden and Garret Vankirk were fourth (26.82) and Mike VanderReyden and Brett Gessinger were fifth with 26.52 pounds.

Three members of the Four Flags Bass Club in Niles have qualified for the Michigan State B.A.S.S. team that will compete in a regional event yet to be announced.

The trio qualified based on their finish in a state event held at Burt and Mullet lakes recently.

Dan Posey of Niles made it for the sixth time by finishing second as a non-boater with 15.02 pounds while Scott Solomon of Edwardsburg finished seventh with 10.13 pounds as a non-boater, his first state team qualification.

Jeff Bostic of Vandalia, Mich. made the team for the third time by finishing 11th as a boater with 21.51 pounds.

Jake and Stephanie Lisenko (South Bend) caught a limit totaling 13.13 pounds to win the last regular season Casting Couples event last weekend on Paw Paw Lake.

There were 18 boats in the event and only two limits weighed in. In addition, 10 smallmouth were brought to the scales.

The Lisenko's used TroKar wacky worm hooks topped with baby bass colored Senkos in 8 - 12 foot of water on the break to win $280.

TULSA, Okla. (Sept. 11, 2018) – Major League Fishing (MLF) officials today announced a significant expansion beginning in 2019 with the goal of dramatically growing visibility and participation for the sport of fishing.

The expanded MLF program includes the addition of the Bass Pro Tour, a premier 80-angler, eight-event series with a championship and heightened payouts, made possible through enthusiastic support from Bass Pro Shops and Outdoor Sportsman Group (OSG).

MLF officials will announce the finalized MLF Bass Pro Tour schedule, format and anglers in the coming weeks.

Ryan Yoder and Lonnie Stutzman won the second annual Tackle Shack ìGrace in Actionî Bass Classic on Lake Wawasee last weekend.

It was a tough day with only two limits caught and 21 of the 46 failing to catch a legal bass. Most of the teams fished Wawasee and not Syracuse.

The winners had four bass weighing 7.60 pounds. They used a small Bitsy Bug jig and a wacky worm in channels.

Second place went to Mike Ganger and Chase Laughlin with five bass weighing 7.39 pounds while Steve Nielsen and Brian Hicks were third with four bass weighing 7.33 pounds.

Big bass of the day was caught by James Miller. He caught the 5 pounder on a Whopper Plopper.
